In God We Trust

Between you, me and the fence post, myself, my wife and most of my family do not usually attend church. However, that does not mean we don't believe in God. In fact, we have a very strong belief in God and we believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, but this blog isn't necessarily about me or my family.
I wanted to write this article because I'm angered and frustrated whenever I hear of someone who is trying to remove God or impact our way of showing respect and patriotism for the United States of America.
When I grew-up, we always started our day in school, with a Prayer, for those who wanted followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and we sang the National Anthem. We felt a sense of pride in country and thanked God for this great land.
Somehow we (i.e., the silent majority) have allowed the minority atheist groups and others to eliminate Prayer from our schools and have also eliminated the Pledge of Allegiance and our National Anthem in many of our schools. Some find it offensive that we make reference to God. Well, there is absolutely nothing wrong with mentioning God in school or anywhere for that matter! In fact, the majority should not have to give-up these things in order to please such a small group of people.
The Declaration of Independence mentions God. Our Currency states "In God We Trust". Many of our country's songs mention God, our pledge of Allegiance concludes with "One Nation Under God...". A majority of Americans believe in God. I personally believe there was divine guidance during the writing of the Constitution as well.
I have two questions
1.) "When will the "Silent Majority" stop being silent and say "ENOUGH!"?
2.) "When in the Hell are we? This doesn't have anything to do with this article or does it?
I believe we are experiencing the "Boiling Pan of Frogs" affect and are allowing the heat to continue to be turned-up. Those who are familiar with this analogy realize the frogs will not jump out of the pan because the increasing heat is so gradual. They will continue to tolerate it until they burn to death.
How about this analogy, Maybe we are like a herd of cows that are being herded or pushed around the pasture by some tiny, little whiny dog and yet we, those who believe in God, are the majority who are being pushed around. Why do we allow it when we're supposed to be the Big Dog on the Porch. That's a Damned good question.
So what do we do? Well we can continue to lose more of our beliefs and privileges or we can stop the craziness. I believe we need to start with ourselves. First, check and see if you have a heart beat then try and remember what your beliefs are. We then need to teach our children about how important these things are. We need to demand that we bring prayer back into our school system. Each one of us remember how much Kindergarten through High School influenced and affected each of our lives. Think about how our children are being influenced without recognizing God and our expressing our patriotism for this country each day?
Here's an example of what we could be losing. I asked my niece and nephew if they feel chills go up their spine whenever they hear the National Anthem. They thought I was Crazy! They had no clue what I was talking about. I asked them if they played the National Anthem in school. They said "No". I asked them if they said the Pledge of Allegiance in school. They said "No". I was shocked! This is something the older generations were taught and seem to be failing to teach the younger generations.
I realize many of us are busy. We're busy working, raising our children and dealing with life's challenges. Meanwhile, the small whiny groups are having their way in Washington. It's each of our responsibility to do something about it. If we don't stop pleasing the minority atheist groups or other groups who are offended by prayer or our National Anthem in our public schools, we could find ourselves drawing a fish in the dirt again. I believe this country is great and I believe together as in "United", have accomplished so much in this country and we didn't do it on our own. I believe we had a lot of help from God. It's not so much to ask to give the opportunity for those children who would like, to take time to pray. Let's also remember and honor all those who paid the ultimate price so we can be free.
God Bless America!
